In 2019, a well-known Spanish stationery brand reached out to me through Imborrable. They wanted me to pitch a graphic proposal to launch a new notebook collection aimed at a more mature audience, with an elegant touch.
For a few years now, I’ve had a slight obsession with concrete breeze blocks and their geometric shapes. They remind me of the outdoors and, just like stationery, they bring me a sense of calm and order. So, I decided to develop the proposal around them.
I designed many different shapes, patterns, and covers, but ultimately narrowed it down to just four. My idea was to print them in white ink on colored cardstock (using stone and sand tones) or, if the production budget was tight, directly onto offset paper.
For the inner pages, a dot grid layout felt like the perfect fit. I even included a final section where the owner of the notebook... could draw their own breeze block!
But the client wasn't fully convinced; they felt it was too risky. So, the project never ended up being approved.
